Task
An investor from China was planning to open a restaurant in Lviv. Before putting money in, he wanted to understand the whole legal picture: what to register, in what order and what it would take for the place to open.
What had to be thought through
- which company to operate through and how to formalise the foreign investor's stake;
- the premises: lease or purchase, and what to check before signing;
- the documents a restaurant can't open without;
- the restaurant's name as a trademark;
- if the investor plans to live in Ukraine, a ground for a residence permit.
What we did
I designed the legal model for the opening: the structure, the list of documents and the sequence of steps from company registration to launch. Each step comes with an explanation of why it's needed and what happens if it's skipped.
Result
The investor got a ready launch plan and a clear idea of how long each stage would take.
The takeaway
It's easier for a foreigner to go into business in Ukraine with a plan than step by step at random. More: business for foreigners and checking a name for a trademark.
